ABE Soccer Association Club Protocols

This document provides an overview of how the club will approach returning to play as permitted by the Commonwealth. Each of the personnel specific sections should be shared with that specific group.

Overview

The overriding expectations contained within the documents being implemented and followed to provide a safe playing environment for ABE players.

  • Do not attend practice or game if not feeling well or been around others that have been sick with the following symptoms – cough, chills, sore throat, loss of taste, difficulty breathing, and fever.
  • Keep 6 feet distance when not playing.
  • Masks are recommended for spectators.
  • Wash hands with soap and water before and after play.
  • Use hand sanitizer during activity.
  • Do not touch your face.
  • Do not share water bottles.
  • Only coaches/administration touch soccer equipment used at practices and games.

Players

This section outlines the requirements for players participating in club activities

  • Wash hands with soap and water before and after play.
  • Use hand sanitizer during activity.
  • Do not share water bottles. Mark water bottles clearly.
  • Only touch your gear – ball and water bottle.
  • No high fives during activity or to end a game.
  • Bring only ball and water bottle to practice.
  • Bring only water bottle to game; leave personal soccer balls at home.

Parents

This section outlines the requirements for the parents with children participating in club activities.

  • Be honest! Stay home if player is sick or has been in contact with another person that has been sick.
  • If possible, parents can sit in cars for practice. If not, remain 6 feet distance from other parents.
  • Parents should remain at fields for practices and games.
  • For games, maintain 6 feet distance from other families. Members of the same family can sit together. Remain away from the player side of the field.
  • Games and practices will start on time. Please leave the field directly after soccer activity.
  • For practices, check in with the team parent. For games, check in with the Field Marshall.
  • Limit number of spectators at the games and practices.
  • Mark water bottles clearly with name. Summer will be hot, so make sure player has enough water for soccer activity.
  • Masks are recommended.
  • Encourage players to take showers after soccer activity.
  • Wipe down gear after activity.
  • Use Port-a-Potty at own risk.

Coaches

This section outlines the requirements for coaches participating in club activities.

  • Be honest! Stay home if sick or have been in contact with another person that has been sick.
  • Wash hands with soap and water before and after play.
  • Social distance with parents and players as much as possible during breaks.
  • Start and stop practice on time. There are no rain make-up days for practice based on the practice schedule.
  • Encourage players to use hand sanitizer during activity breaks.
  • Help to remind players of hygiene guidelines during activity.
  • No high fives or after-game handshakes.
  • Wipe down gear after activity.
  • Do not allow players to pick up soccer gear at practices or games.

Administration

This section outlines the requirement for club admins participating in club activities.

  • Be honest! Stay home if sick or have been in contact with another person that has been sick.
  • Wash hands with soap and water before and after play.
  • Social distance with parents and players as much as possible during breaks.
  • Encourage players to use hand sanitizer during activity breaks.
  • Help to remind players of hygiene guidelines during activity.
  • Keep track of attendance at games and practices.
  • Collect Parent Waivers before player is allowed to participate in soccer activity.
  • Meet with each parent to discuss risks and encourage parents’ help with the season.

Facilities

This section outlines how the club will utilize facilities and act before, during and after the utilization.

  • Games will be staggered to prevent a large number of people at the fields at once.
  • Practices will be staggered to assure fields are not shared.
  • Built in time between games for cleaning purposes.
  • Team parents will collect attendance at practices and be in charge of hand sanitizer for the players.
  • Field Marshalls will be assigned on game days to take attendance at games.
  • Port-a-Potty will be cleaned hourly. A sheet will be updated with each cleaning.
  • Team benches will not be utilized this season; players will sit on the ground.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at each bench for games.
  • Fields will be marked to help spectators sit 6 feet apart.
  • Concession stand will be closed.
  • All gear, balls, goalie helmets, etc., will be wiped down between games and at the end of the day.
  • Signs will be placed around the grounds to reference hygiene guidelines and to check in with the Field Marshall.

Protocol for Positive Test

  • ABE Soccer Association has an outlined guide and action plan if a player or another member of ABE Soccer tests positive for coronavirus during the season. This action plan was formulated following the CDC recommendations and PA West Soccer guidelines, and it will be followed when necessary.
